The Lumenis® PiQo4 for Skin Pigmentation

The Lumenis PiQo4 is a powerful tool that addresses skin pigmentation, along with a range of other skin conditions. The device covers nearly four times more skin surface area than other systems, which makes treatment faster.

The PiQo4 laser has four different wavelengths, which is why it’s also so effective at removing colored tattoos. It’s also an excellent option for removing pigmentation problems caused by lentigines, melasma, and certain birthmarks.

    Skin and Pigment Disorders Q & A

    Does PiQo4 laser hurt?

During treatment, the laser makes loud popping sounds as it makes contact with the skin. As the laser pulses make contact, it may feel like a snap of a rubber band. After treatment, the sunburn-like sensation may persist. Although PiQo4 is not completely painless, most patients find it very tolerable.

    What is skin pigmentation?

Pigment is the reason why your skin has its particular color. Skin cells create melanin, a kind of pigment. Some people have more melanin than others, giving their skin a darker hue.

When your melanin-producing cells are unhealthy or become damaged, they may produce different levels of pigment. That can create patches of skin that are lighter or darker than the rest.

These are some common causes of skin pigmentation:

    • Addison’s disease
    • Vitiligo
    • Pregnancy
    • Sun damage
    • Melasma

Skin pigmentation can look different from one person to the next. Some men and women experience small areas of darkened skin, similar to large freckles. Others have large patches of discoloration on their foreheads, cheeks, hands, or other areas of their body.

    Is laser good for pigmentation?

Laser treatment is one of the most advanced treatments for removing unwanted pigmentation on the skin such as age spots, sun spots, and freckles. … For deep pigmentation such as melasma, ResurFX Laser Resurfacing is the skin pigmentation treatment of choice which can remove up to 80% of melanin in one treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

Depending on the type of pigmentation being treated, clients will need between 2-6 treatments. The effectiveness of the treatment will be determined by the type, color, and depth of the pigmentation along with the condition of the skin.
